Embracing The Seasons

ree

The only constant is change ~ Heraclitus.

This is one of my favorite quotes. Being that I try to spend as much time outside as possible, I see changes in nature constantly. I even look for them - the buds on the trees in the spring, the movement of the clouds in summer, the active squirrels gathering nuts in the fall, the snow melting in the winter. To me, these things continuously fascinate me. After being away from home for a week's vacation, or even a few days, I notice so many differences that I find it quite stimulating to process all of the changes. It's that cool to me.

I think that's one reason why I like living in New Jersey, because we get to experience 4 seasons....more or less. I know some winters have been warmer and sometimes it feels like we go from winter to summer instantaneously, but even the shifts in the sunlight throughout the year are enough to me to indicate that things are changing.

I love that Acupuncture embraces seasonal changes, which is depicted in Five Element Theory, something I've written about many times in previous blogs.

As modernized as Acupuncture has become thanks to research and a continued integration with Western Medicine, I still really like the language of Acupuncture and its ties to nature. It's a wonderful, effective way to view imbalances in the body and then to treat accordingly.
